Clearance is an open-source quality filter for OpenStreetMap data. It loads an OSM extract into PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ingests the minutely or daily changes and checks them against validation rules, for example on changeset comments, editor reputation, the distance of geometry changes and network connectivity. Valid changes are integrated automatically; sensitive changes wait for review in a web interface. Clearance never edits OpenStreetMap itself: corrections are made in OSM. It is meant for organisations that want to keep their own copy of OSM data up to date.
Clearance is developed by Teritorio, a French company in Bordeaux that offers open-source mapping solutions to local authorities and tourism organisations; the NLnet Foundation co-funds part of the development. The licence is AGPL-3.0, an open-source licence. You can run Clearance on your own infrastructure, using Docker and OSM OAuth login, and Teritorio helps with deployment. The company also offers Clearance as a SaaS; its hosting location is not stated.
