DataCore Software provides software-defined storage for block, file, object and container workloads. Its products include SANsymphony and StarWind for block storage, Swarm for S3-compatible object storage, Nexus for parallel file systems and Puls8 for persistent storage in Kubernetes. Most of these run as software on the customer's own servers, and some are also available as prepackaged appliances.
DataCore is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in the United States, where it was founded in 1998. The company is privately held and no parent company is named. Because the software is installed on the organisation's own hardware, storage can be kept in a European data centre without a foreign cloud provider in the operating path. The vendor itself, however, is subject to US law, so licensing, support access and any vendor-side access to systems fall under US jurisdiction.
