DNSvizor is a DNS resolver and DHCP server for local networks, aimed at those who want a compact replacement for dnsmasq-style setups. The software runs as a MirageOS unikernel, a minimal OCaml-based operating system that contains only the code the service needs. The project lists privacy measures such as query name minimisation and opportunistic encryption towards authoritative name servers, configurable domain blocklists, DNSSEC, and DNS-over-TLS and DNS-over-HTTPS. It is delivered as source code and as pre-built binaries.
DNSvizor is licensed under BSD-2-Clause and developed by Robur, a non-profit software cooperative that is a project of Änderwerk, a charity registered in Germany. Because you run it yourself on your own hardware, DNS queries and lease data stay inside your network. Development was co-funded through the EU's NGI Zero programme, run by NLnet. Reproducible builds are published at builds.robur.coop.
