Excalidraw is an open-source virtual whiteboard with a hand-drawn look, used for sketches, diagrams, brainstorming and quick wireframes. The editor works in the browser at excalidraw.com without an account and offers an infinite canvas, shape libraries, real-time collaboration, read-only share links and export to PNG or SVG in an open JSON format. It is also published as an MIT-licensed npm package that developers can embed in their own applications. Excalidraw+ is the separate paid cloud service with workspaces, extended sharing and extra AI features.
Excalidraw+ is operated by Excalidraw s.r.o. in Brno, Czech Republic. According to its privacy policy, the servers are located in the United States, with transfers covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Its data processing agreement limits access to customer data to personnel located in the EU, and names some subprocessors outside the EEA, including in the United States. Organisations that need full control can embed the open-source editor in their own environment.
