exodus-standalone is an open-source command-line tool for the local static analysis of Android applications. It reads an APK file and looks for embedded trackers, meaning software components designed to collect data about users. It is aimed at security and privacy researchers, developers and organisations that want to check apps before allowing them. You can run it from a Docker image or manually with Python, and it can be wired into a CI pipeline such as GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions.
The tool is developed by Exodus Privacy, a French non-profit organisation (an association under French law of 1901) that also runs the public εxodus platform for privacy auditing of Android apps. The source code is on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Because the analysis happens on your own machine, you do not need to send the apps to an external service. The tool is listed in the French SILL, the government's list of recommended free software.
