GéoContrib is a web application that lets users build or enrich geographic databases collaboratively. A comment system lets contributors interact on the data, and moderators manage the contributions. The application works in the browser, including on mobile devices. Uses include a shared database on a specific theme, such as air-quality or temperature readings, and gathering opinions on development projects. Administrators configure projects, custom fields and notifications, import and export data, and restrict editing by area of competence.
GéoContrib was created in 2019 by Neogeo Technologies at the initiative of the French Hauts-de-France region and is developed by Neogeo, a French SAS based in Toulouse. The source code is on Neogeo's GitLab. You install the software on your own infrastructure, so the data stays under your control. Neogeo also offers its OneGeo Suite platform as a SaaS hosted in France; the documentation does not say whether this applies to GéoContrib itself. A user community exists that includes regional and local authorities.
