Geoportal.ch is a web-based geographic information system (GIS) from GEOINFO Applications AG that brings together the spatial data of a municipality in one portal. Public administrations and businesses use it for internal processes, and the public can be given access to current geodata. It offers full-text search with a live result preview, a multimap view of up to four synchronised maps, a 3D view of all maps and a historical view that compares geodata at two points in time. Specialist applications extend it for infrastructure, safety, vegetation and agriculture.
GEOINFO is a Swiss group of companies based in Herisau, and no foreign parent is named. Switzerland is not in the EU but is an EFTA country with an EU adequacy decision. The vendor does not state where the portal is hosted, so ask about the data centre, subprocessors and the contractual data-protection terms. For European public bodies it is a non-US alternative to GIS platforms such as Esri ArcGIS.
