Groq provides AI inference, the running of trained language models, on its own LPU (language processing unit) chips and through its GroqCloud service. Developers and businesses use it to get low-latency responses from models. The company also describes LPU capacity alongside Nvidia GPU systems. In December 2025 Groq announced a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Nvidia for its inference technology, and said it would remain an independent company with GroqCloud running without interruption.
Groq LLC is a US company with a mailing address in Mountain View, California. Its privacy policy states that the company is located in the United States and processes data in various jurisdictions, and that customer data for cloud services is governed by a Data Processing Addendum. In July 2025 Groq opened its first European data centre in Helsinki, Finland, in an Equinix facility. For European organisations this provides an EU location, but the contractual data flows and the reach of US law over the company should be assessed before personal data is processed.
