Imperva Advanced Bot Protection is a service that protects websites, mobile apps and APIs against sophisticated bot attacks, such as account takeover. According to Imperva, it combines behaviour analysis, machine learning, connection characteristics and threat intelligence to tell humans, good bots and bad bots apart. Administrators get tunable policies, real-time reporting and access to bot analysts; serving a CAPTCHA is one of the possible responses. The service is delivered as a managed cloud offering.
Imperva is headquartered in San Mateo, California, and has been part of the French group Thales since December 2023, when Thales completed the acquisition from Thoma Bravo. The contracting and privacy entity is Imperva, Inc. in the United States, and under its data processing agreement Imperva may process data in the US and wherever the group or its subprocessors operate, with Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers. The official product page lists no data centre locations, so check in advance where your traffic data is processed.
