Jina AI develops search foundation models: multilingual and multimodal embedding models, rerankers and small language models. Jina AI GmbH is based in Berlin and is the data controller for its services. Since October 2025 it has been part of Elastic N.V., a publicly listed US search company, and processing by Jina AI and its sub-processors is now governed by Elastic's data processing addendum. EU endpoints are documented for Reader and Search (eu.r.jina.ai and eu.s.jina.ai); for Embeddings and Reranker the documentation lists only api.jina.ai. The website itself is hosted on GitHub, with servers in the United States. For a European organisation, the US parent company is therefore relevant for assessing jurisdiction, alongside the Berlin entity.
