Kanboard is free, open-source project management software based on the Kanban method. It offers a visual board with drag-and-drop tasks, work-in-progress limits per column, subtasks with time estimates, Markdown descriptions, a search and filter query language and automatic actions triggered by events. Sign-in can use LDAP or Active Directory, or OAuth2 providers such as Google, GitHub and GitLab. The interface is available in more than 30 languages. Kanboard is installed on the organisation's own server.
Kanboard is released under the MIT licence. Frédéric Guillot is the main developer, supported by many contributors. The project is in maintenance mode: only small fixes are made, though community pull requests are still accepted. The sources consulted describe Kanboard only as software to self-host and name no parent company, so there is no cloud operator whose jurisdiction applies. Data stays wherever the organisation runs the software, for example on servers in the EU. Because major new features are not being developed, the organisation must plan for its own updates and security maintenance.
