KnotDots, also called Strategy Tool, is a platform that lets municipalities and other organisations link and track strategies, goals and measures. Guiding principles, strategic and operational goals, measures and indicators come together on a single board. The system offers status monitoring, live reporting for political bodies, roles and permissions, public dashboards and project websites, and sharing of good practice as templates between municipalities. It is delivered as a hosted platform at knotdots.net.

KnotDots originated in the German Smart Cities model project of the city of Detmold and is maintained by knot dots UG (haftungsbeschränkt) in Berlin, which states that it has no outside investors. The source code is published on OpenCoDE under the AGPL-3.0-or-later; the city of Arnsberg also publishes a reused version there. According to its privacy policy, the platform runs at Scaleway in France under a data processing agreement, and the Keycloak login service is hosted on the company's own servers.
