LangSmith is a platform from LangChain for building and operating applications and agents based on large language models. It offers observability (tracing of runs and threads, dashboards and alerts), evaluation, prompt engineering and deployment. LangSmith is available as a cloud service, in a hybrid model or self-hosted; self-hosting is an add-on to the Enterprise plan and runs on Kubernetes in your own infrastructure.
LangSmith is a proprietary commercial product of LangChain, a company headquartered in San Francisco, USA, with offices that include Amsterdam. Cloud organisations are hosted in separate regions: on Google Cloud in the US, the EU and Asia-Pacific, and on AWS in the US. With self-hosting, trace and operational data stay in your own environment, although prompts sent through the Playground leave it for external model APIs. Because the provider is a US company, US jurisdiction (the CLOUD Act) deserves attention alongside the storage location.
