Legito: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Legito is a no-code platform for document automation and document lifecycle management, aimed at legal, compliance, HR, procurement, sales and other back-office teams. Users build interactive templates, route documents through approvals, create custom applications and sign electronically with Legito Sign. An AI assistant, Kedy AI, supports work on templates, documents and workflows, and integrations include Salesforce, Microsoft SharePoint, Zapier, a REST API and webhooks. Legito is delivered as software as a service, with professional services and implementation partners for deployment.

Legito is a company of Czech origin; the Stanford CodeX TechIndex lists its headquarters in Brno and a founding year of 2014. According to its security page, customers choose where their data is stored, in OVH facilities in Limburg (Germany), Vint Hill, Virginia (USA) or Melbourne (Australia), with encryption at rest and in transit. Legito holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification. The software is proprietary. A European organisation can select the German location to keep data in the EU, and should confirm ownership and sub-processors in the contract.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Legito

Legito is headquartered in CZ and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Legito hosts data in EU, US, OTHER. Exactly what stays within the EU — and what does not — is defined by the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list, not by a setting you control yourself; check those documents for the precise scope, including backups, logs and support access.

Legito is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Legito together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
