MirageVPN is an implementation of the OpenVPN protocol in OCaml, released as MirageOS unikernels. It provides a VPN client and a VPN server that are compatible with OpenVPN, using a deliberately small, modern subset of the protocol. A handbook covers installing the client, the server and a client for QubesOS. The software is aimed at organisations and technically skilled users who run their own VPN infrastructure.
MirageVPN is developed by Robur, a non-profit software cooperative that is a project of Änderwerk, a charity registered in Germany. The code is open source under the BSD-2-Clause licence. Because you run the unikernels yourself, no traffic passes through a service of the makers: you control the servers, keys and configuration. Robur also offers development and audit services. Development of MirageVPN was co-funded through NLnet's NGI Assure fund. The project does not aim to replace every OpenVPN feature.
