Oracle API Gateway is the managed API gateway of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Teams create a gateway, describe an API in JSON and publish it as a deployment that routes client traffic to back ends such as OCI Functions, Kubernetes Engine or plain HTTP(S) URLs. The gateway enforces authentication policies (OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, JWT, authorizer functions), limits request rates, transforms requests and responses, and supports custom domains, TLS, CORS and mTLS. It is managed through the console, API, CLI and SDKs.
The service is part of the public cloud offering of Oracle Corporation, which is headquartered in Austin, Texas. As a US company, Oracle falls under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. Customers choose an OCI region; Oracle operates commercial regions in several EU countries, in Switzerland and in the United Kingdom. For personal data, Oracle publishes a data processing agreement for its cloud services. Because the gateway handles the traffic and tokens of your APIs, the legal structure of the provider matters as well as the choice of region.
