PandoraBox is an open-source decontamination kiosk for USB keys, sometimes called a sheep-dip station. A user inserts a key and the kiosk scans every file with several detection engines, including known-malware hashes, ClamAV, YARA-X rules and heuristics. Dangerous files are shown on the touch screen and removed with a single touch. The kiosk works without a network on a refurbished small computer and is distributed as a complete hardened system image. The project targets sensitive environments such as healthcare, industry and public administration.
PandoraBox is a community project with no company behind it. According to the lead developer's public profile, the developer is based in Luxembourg. The software is licensed under the GPL v3 and the 3D-printable enclosure under CERN-OHL-S v2. Because you build and operate the kiosk yourself, scan results and quarantined files stay on your own device. Signature updates arrive through a signed channel or a USB key, so offline kiosks can be kept current. There is no hosted service.
