It is a cloud-based multichannel platform, also described as an e-commerce ERP, that brings sales channels, product data, inventory and orders together in one system. The vendor lists a cloud product with product information management (PIM) and order management, an automation module for recurring processes, and an AI module that gives recommendations on channel strategy, pricing and inventory. It serves merchants that sell through their own online store and through marketplaces.
The provider, PlentyONE GmbH, is based in Kassel, Germany. Its privacy policy says that service providers supply the technical infrastructure, but it does not name the hosting provider or the data centre country of the core system. Processing outside the EU is permitted only where the conditions of Article 44 and following of the GDPR are met. Some auxiliary services, such as an image CDN, are provided by US companies. A European organisation should ask for the hosting location and the sub-processors in the data processing agreement.
