PrestaShop is an open-source e-commerce platform for building and running an online shop. It is offered in two ways: the Classic offer, where you download the source code for free and install and host the shop yourself, and a Hosted offer, where PrestaShop manages the technical side and provides a ready-to-use store. The project is supported by an open-source community.
PrestaShop S.A. is the company behind the platform. According to trade press, the Polish technology group cyber_Folks acquired 100% of PrestaShop SA through its subsidiary cyber_Pixel in February 2026, so the ultimate parent is a Polish company and therefore inside the EU. Because the Classic edition can be installed anywhere, the organisation decides where data is stored and who operates the infrastructure; PrestaShop refers to third-party hosting providers for this. For the Hosted offer, the hosting location is not stated on the vendor's page, so a European organisation should confirm it before use.
