Prompt Security: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Prompt Security is a platform for securing generative AI, now offered by SentinelOne. It gives IT and security teams visibility and control over the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, including unsanctioned tools used by employees. According to the vendor, it can redact or block sensitive data, counter prompt injection and jailbreaks, and use an MCP gateway to control traffic between AI applications and MCP servers. It works through lightweight agents and browser extensions. The service is delivered as SaaS; the AWS Marketplace listing also mentions three self-hosted options.

SentinelOne completed its acquisition of Prompt Security in September 2025. SentinelOne is a US company based in Mountain View, California, so the service falls under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. The vendor does not publish in which regions customer data is stored, while prompts and responses are, according to the vendor, captured in searchable logs. A European organisation should therefore ask about the storage location up front and consider the self-hosted options. The platform is proprietary.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Prompt Security

Prompt Security is headquartered in the United States. US vendors fall under the CLOUD Act and FISA 702: US authorities can compel access to data, even when that data sits in a European data centre. That is the core of the jurisdictional exposure in our model.

Prompt Security hosts data outside the EU (US). Personal data therefore leaves the EU, which requires a transfer mechanism under the GDPR and pulls the data residency score down.

Prompt Security is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Prompt Security together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
