In December 2025 it completed the acquisition of the German company Hornetsecurity, which had acquired Vade in 2024. The software is proprietary. Proofpoint states that it is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Public documentation does not state in which region customer data is hosted per product. As a US-owned company, Proofpoint falls under US law such as the CLOUD Act, so hosting location and access should be agreed in the contract.
