Relativity develops a legal data platform. RelativityOne is its SaaS product for e-discovery, used to collect, process, review and produce data. Relativity aiR adds AI for case strategy, contract review, early case intelligence, investigations, data breach response, DSAR and FOIA requests, including automatic redaction and privilege logs. The conversational AI claiR answers questions about a customer's own data with citations. The platform is intended for law firms, corporations, government agencies and service providers through a partner programme.
Relativity is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and was called kCura until August 2017. According to an article by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, RelativityOne runs on Microsoft Azure. Relativity's documentation lists deployment geographies including Germany, France, Ireland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, and warns that generative AI features may process data outside the region where an instance is hosted. The software is not open source. A European organisation should therefore check, application by application, where processing takes place, with a vendor that is subject to US jurisdiction.
