IBM webMethods Integration is a platform for designing, building, testing and running integrations across applications, APIs, AI agents, events, files, data and partner ecosystems. It covers event-driven and B2B integration, connectivity to SaaS, cloud-native and on-premises systems, managed file transfer and partner onboarding, and includes Flow Pilot, an AI assistant for authoring and testing integrations. IBM positions it as a hybrid platform; integrations can run in self-managed, on-premises, containerised and hybrid environments.
webMethods originated at Software AG of Darmstadt, Germany, which acquired it in 2007. IBM completed its acquisition of webMethods and StreamSets from Software AG on 1 July 2024, so the product is now owned by a US company and falls under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act, for any service IBM operates. IBM states that integrations can be deployed in different locations, which can help with local data sovereignty requirements. Its product pages name no hosting regions, so confirm the region of any managed service. The software is proprietary.
