Products are managed through the cloud console Sophos Central; firewalls and other appliances are deployed on the customer's premises or networks.

Sophos is a British company headquartered in England (Abingdon, according to Wikipedia; a 2021 company press release says Oxford). It has been owned by the US private equity firm Thoma Bravo since March 2020, so its ultimate parent is American. A 2021 company press release lists Sophos Central data centres in the United States, Ireland and Germany; current regions should be confirmed with the vendor. The software is commercial and not open source. A European organisation should select an EU data region for the console and review the legal exposure that comes with a US owner.
