SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is Microsoft's platform for enterprise-level data integration and data transformation. Organisations use it to extract data from sources such as XML files, flat files and relational databases, transform it and load it into one or more destinations, for example to populate a data warehouse or to cleanse data. It includes built-in tasks, transformations, graphical design tools and a catalogue database for packages. SSIS is installed as part of SQL Server and can also run as the SSIS Integration Runtime in Azure Data Factory.
Microsoft is headquartered in Redmond, United States, so the product falls under US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. When installed on your own servers, the packages and the data they process stay under your own control; sovereignty is then mostly a question of licensing and dependence on the SQL Server stack. If you choose execution in Azure Data Factory, the workload runs in Microsoft's cloud. The product is not open source.
