STARFACE is a German software-based VoIP phone system for businesses. The system is available as a hosted cloud service, as a virtual machine for self-management and as a hardware appliance. The cloud variant is managed through a web browser and offers open interfaces for connections to other software. The offering also includes optional AI features for speech recognition, text-to-speech and conversational bots.
STARFACE GmbH is based in Karlsruhe and forms part of the STARFACE Group, which has belonged to the UK group Gamma Communications plc since February 2025. That group is headquartered in England, so the ultimate parent company sits outside the EU. According to the sub-processor annex dated November 2025, telephony runs in data centres in Karlsruhe and Frankfurt am Main. The optional AI features use US providers, hosted in Belgium, Germany and Sweden. For a European organisation the telephony infrastructure in Germany is set out in the processing agreement; the UK group structure and the US AI sub-processors call for attention.
