SVT Play is the streaming service of Sveriges Television (SVT), the Swedish public broadcaster. It offers on-demand programmes, channels and live streams in categories such as series, news, documentaries, sport, films, children's content and culture, with audio description, sign language and content in minority languages including Finnish, Sámi and Meänkieli. You watch in a browser, through a smartphone app and on selected TV platforms; an SVT account is optional. According to SVT Play, only part of the catalogue can be viewed outside Sweden.
SVT is based in Stockholm and owned by a foundation that governs SR, SVT and UR (Förvaltningsstiftelsen); the Swedish government appoints the foundation's members. SVT is funded by the public service fee, collected through the tax system. There is no foreign parent company, so ownership gives no CLOUD Act signal. The service is not open source and is offered by SVT itself. The pages consulted make no statement about where data is hosted.
