Sweet Home 3D is a program for drawing the plan of a home, arranging furniture and viewing the result in 3D. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, and can also be used online in a WebGL-enabled browser. The original developer, Emmanuel Puybaret, handed the project over in 2024 to Space Mushrooms, which continues its development.
Space Mushrooms is a software company based in Milan, Italy, so it falls under EU law. The program is distributed under the GNU General Public License and published as an open-source project on SourceForge. Because it can be installed on the organisation's own computers and its source code is public, a European organisation can inspect and manage the software itself, without relying on a hosted service. Space Mushrooms states that its aim is to preserve the program's community and open-source approach.
