Tarteaucitron.js: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Tarteaucitron.js is an open-source JavaScript library that adds a cookie consent banner to a website. Visitors can accept, reject or customise their choices, and third-party services such as analytics, advertising and embedded videos stay blocked until consent is given. It supports Google Consent Mode v2 and Bing Consent Mode and is added with a script tag and configured in code. A separate paid offering, tarteaucitron.io Pro, adds automatic service detection, an online dashboard and consent statistics.

The project was created and is maintained by Amauri Champeaux, an independent developer in Béziers, France; the legal notice names him, not a company, as publisher. The library is published under the MIT licence on GitHub, so an organisation can run it on its own infrastructure without depending on a vendor service. For the hosted Pro service, the privacy policy states that data is stored on a server in France operated by OVH. The sources show no foreign parent company.
