Teedy: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Teedy is an open-source document management system, previously published as Sismics Docs. It offers document storage with full-text search, OCR, nested tags, versioning, permissions, two-factor authentication and a REST API. The software is distributed under the GPL-2.0 licence and can run on your own infrastructure using a Docker image.

Teedy is published by Sismics SAS, a French company registered in Lyon, as stated in the legal notice on the company's website. Owners are not named in the sources reviewed, and the source code is public. For a European organisation, Teedy is therefore a self-hosted option in which data location and encryption remain under local control. The default installation uses an embedded test database that is not intended for production; production use requires a dedicated database server and a changed administrator password.

Teedy is open source. You can audit the source code, self-host the software and keep the encryption keys under your own control. Switching is easier because data and software are not tied to a single party.
