TightGate-Pro is a remote-controlled browser system (ReCoBS) from m-privacy GmbH for public authorities, critical infrastructure and businesses. The web browser, Firefox or Chrome, does not run on the workstation but on a dedicated server in the DMZ. Only image and sound are sent to the workstation in encrypted form, while mouse and keyboard input control the browser remotely. A packet filter between server and workstation keeps the internal network separated from the internet. The MagicURL link switch opens addresses in the right environment, internal or external. The product consists of the server and a viewer on the workstations. According to the vendor, TightGate-Pro (CC) 2.0 has been certified by the BSI under Common Criteria.
m-privacy GmbH is a Berlin family company, founded in 2002 and headquartered in Berlin. The server sits in the customer's own DMZ, so the organisation decides where browser sessions and data are processed. For European organisations that want to separate workstation internet access from the internal network, the supplier remains under German law.
