Veeam supplies software for backup, recovery and data protection. Its offering includes Veeam Data Platform, software that runs in your own environment, Veeam Data Cloud as a SaaS service, and Veeam Kasten for Kubernetes. It protects Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Salesforce, Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, hypervisors and on-premises environments, among others. Veeam Vault adds managed cloud storage for offsite backups. Veeam is not open source.
Veeam began as a Swiss company (Veeam Software AG in Baar). In March 2020 Insight Partners completed its acquisition for about 5 billion dollars and announced it would move the headquarters from Switzerland to the United States; the company is now based in Columbus, Ohio. Veeam is therefore a US, privately held company owned by a US investor and is subject to US law. With Veeam Data Platform you decide where the software and the backup data reside. With the SaaS services Veeam determines the infrastructure, so consult Veeam's current documentation or Trust Center for locations.
