Vuisio: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Vuisio is a platform for video conferencing and collaboration in the browser. Participants do not need to install anything and joining a meeting requires no account. It includes a whiteboard, presentations and sub-groups. A host can optionally start Vuisio AI for transcription, translation and summaries. According to the privacy policy, the voice is then sent to Mistral AI, a French company. Vuisio is offered as a cloud service, but it can also run on your own servers or in a dedicated cloud.

Vuisio is a product of GEEZOT, a French SAS in Melun. The core software, the web client and the installer are open source under the GNU AGPL v3. The cloud service runs at Scaleway in France, and according to the privacy policy the processed data is stored in the European Union. The policy also names four processors whose publishers are established outside the EU. When an organisation uses it, GEEZOT acts as processor under a written contract. If you self-host, you keep control of the data yourself.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Vuisio

Vuisio is headquartered in FR and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so Vuisio scores best on data residency.

Vuisio is open source. You can audit the source code, self-host the software and keep the encryption keys under your own control. Switching is easier because data and software are not tied to a single party.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Vuisio together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
