Apache Doris is an open-source, real-time database for analytics and AI workloads. It ingests streaming data from Kafka and database change data capture, serves queries quickly under high concurrency, and can query lakehouse tables in formats such as Iceberg, Delta Lake and Hudi in place. It also offers hybrid search, combining JSON and text retrieval with vector indexes. Doris can run as a classic cluster in which compute and storage share each node, or as a cloud-native setup with stateless compute over shared object storage. You install and operate it yourself.
Doris is a project of the Apache Software Foundation, a US non-profit (501(c)(3)), and is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. The project is developed in the open with a public roadmap and improvement proposals. Because it is software you deploy, your data stays wherever you run it: on your own servers, at an EU hosting provider or in a public cloud region you select. That gives a European organisation direct control over location and access, along with the operational work this requires.
