Apple Health is the health app on iPhone and iPad, designed to bring health information such as activity, sleep, medication and heart rate into one place. With an Apple Watch, AirPods and iPhone it can record heart rhythm, sleep, hearing, cycle data and mood, among other things. Users can share reports as PDFs with their care team and optionally contribute to studies through the Apple Research app. The app is part of iOS; data is kept on the device and can be synchronised through iCloud.
Apple Health is provided by Apple Inc. in the United States, with no separate parent company. According to Apple, health data on the device is encrypted, and data in iCloud is encrypted in transit and at rest; with two-factor authentication Apple says it cannot read the synchronised data. For users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Apple Distribution International Limited in Ireland is the data controller. Apple generally stores data collected worldwide in the United States, using standard contractual clauses for transfers.
