AtomicServer is the self-hostable server behind atomic.place, an open-source, local-first workspace for documents, tables, files, chat and apps. The workspace also offers meetings, a canvas, websites and AI features, runs in the browser, on desktop and on mobile, and syncs when a connection is available. AtomicServer itself provides storage, search, sharing and synchronisation, ships as a single binary and runs with Docker or from crates.io. Underneath is the open Atomic Data specification, a graph data model with a REST API. The project describes its status as alpha, so breaking changes are expected until version 1.0.
AtomicServer is developed by Ontola (legal entity Argu B.V.), a software company in Soest, the Netherlands. The code is released under the MIT licence with no proprietary core, while the Atomic names and logos are reserved as trademarks. You can run the server on your own infrastructure so that your data stays under your control. A hosted service is also available at atomic.place; its hosting location was not found. Development was co-funded through NLnet and the EU's NGI Zero programme.
