Cloudflare Workers is a serverless platform on which developers run backend logic without managing servers. Typical uses include APIs, full-stack web applications, edge tasks such as authentication, rate limiting, routing and caching, and background jobs with queues, workflows and scheduled triggers. Code is written in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Rust or WebAssembly and deployed once across Cloudflare's network, where by default it runs in more than 330 cities. The open-source workerd runtime can be used locally, but the platform itself is a hosted service.
Workers is a product of Cloudflare, Inc., headquartered in the United States, and is therefore subject to US jurisdiction, including the CLOUD Act. Because code runs worldwide by default, the execution location is not automatically in the EU. Cloudflare's GDPR documentation describes a data processing addendum with standard contractual clauses, certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and a Data Localization Suite for regional control; the Workers product page does not describe those regional controls. Check this in advance for data that must stay in the EU.
