Cockpit is a self-hosted, open-source headless CMS for content-driven applications. Content is managed in collections, singletons and trees and delivered through REST and GraphQL APIs, so you can use any front end or technology stack, such as Next.js, React, Vue, Svelte or Node.js. Installation requires PHP 8.3 or later with the PDO and GD extensions, a database (SQLite by default, MongoDB as an alternative) and an Apache or Nginx web server. The Cockpit core is licensed under the MIT licence. The copyright is held by Agentejo, a digital agency that says it is based in Hamburg, Germany; the address in its footer is in Neu Wulmstorf. The code lives in the Cockpit-HQ GitHub organisation. Because you run Cockpit on your own servers, you decide where the content resides and which jurisdiction applies, for example by using a European hosting provider. The sources do not describe a cloud service operated by the vendor.
