Cognite describes the platform as cloud-native and available as a service. A 2020 announcement by Cognite stated that the platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure.

Cognite's own website lists Phoenix, Arizona, as its headquarters, while the Norwegian company Cognite AS is based in Fornebu near Oslo. The group therefore has a US headquarters and Norwegian roots, and US legislation can apply to the provider. In June 2026 the French company Schneider Electric announced an agreement to acquire 100% of Cognite Holding B.V. Completion was expected in the coming quarters and is subject to regulatory approval.
