CrateDB is a distributed SQL database for real-time analytics on operational data, aimed at teams that handle large volumes of data with many distinct values. In a single engine, CrateDB combines time series, JSON documents, full-text search, vector search, geospatial and relational data, queryable with standard SQL. Data can be queried immediately after ingestion. Built-in replication, automatic sharding and failover allow horizontal scaling. There are three editions: CrateDB OSS, CrateDB Enterprise and the managed CrateDB Cloud.
The open source core is licensed under the Apache License 2.0, so you can run CrateDB yourself, on premises, at the edge or in a cloud of your choice, including with a European provider. Crate.io was founded in Dornbirn, Austria, and lists offices in the United States, Germany and Austria. CrateDB Cloud can be obtained through the AWS, Azure and GCP marketplaces. With a self-hosted deployment you decide where your data resides.
