E·R·Plus: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

E·R·Plus is ERP software for the operational and production control of companies in metal construction, steel construction, façade construction and locksmithing. Its modules cover project management, materials management, finance, personnel, service and maintenance, logistics and document management, with interfaces for CAD and DMS systems, among others. The application is installed at the customer's site and runs on a relational database, optionally Microsoft SQL Server. With E·R·Plus.Cloud, staff on the move get mobile access to open items, tasks, project data and documents.

E·R·Plus is developed by T.A.Project GmbH in Essen, Germany, which has subsidiaries in the Netherlands and Switzerland. Its website names no parent company outside the EU. Because the core software is installed on your own infrastructure, you decide where your data is stored. For the cloud module the vendor describes GDPR-compliant processing but does not state the country where data is hosted; ask the vendor before placing sensitive project data in the cloud.

Why digital sovereignty matters with E·R·Plus

E·R·Plus is headquartered in DE and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

E·R·Plus runs on infrastructure you choose and control yourself. You decide where the data lives, including fully within the EU if you want — this is not a fixed hosting choice made by the vendor.

E·R·Plus is closed source, but you run the software yourself on your own infrastructure. The encryption keys and the runtime therefore stay under your own control, though you cannot audit or modify the source code. Ask about export options and open standards to limit software-level lock-in.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs E·R·Plus together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
