Eclipse Tractus-X is an open-source project that builds software for data spaces, the secure and self-sovereign exchange of data between companies. It provides the reference implementations used in the Catena-X and several Manufacturing-X initiatives, together with libraries, demonstrators and KITs, which are modular architecture blueprints. The code is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and the non-code material under CC-BY-4.0, so organisations can build their own solutions on it as an open alternative to proprietary supply-chain data-sharing platforms.
Eclipse Tractus-X is a project of the Eclipse Foundation, a Belgian non-profit association (AISBL) based in Brussels. Its participants come from the automotive value chain and beyond. For a European organisation, the sovereignty relevance is that the code is open, can run on infrastructure of the organisation's choice and is governed in Europe. Where customer data is stored is determined by the organisation that implements a solution, not by the project.
