Emailit: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

Emailit is an email platform that combines a transactional email API, an SMTP relay and email marketing tools. Developers send mail through a REST API or SMTP, process inbound email, follow logs and receive signed webhooks. Teams can run campaigns, manage audiences and contacts, and use deliverability tools, DMARC reports and email verification. The service is delivered as a hosted platform.

Emailit is operated by FunFirst s.r.o., a company registered in Prague, Czech Republic, whose terms are governed by Czech law. It operates in the US through a subsidiary, FunFirst, Inc. According to the vendor, the platform runs on infrastructure it owns in a data center in Prague, without a third-party sending service, and recipient data stays in the EU. A data processing agreement is available on request. The privacy policy names Cloudflare as a processor and states that personal data is not transferred outside the EU, except where users connect external AI applications. Emailit is not open source.

Why digital sovereignty matters with Emailit

Emailit is headquartered in CZ and therefore falls under European law: the GDPR, NIS2 and the Data Act. No foreign legislation can compel access to your data.

Data is hosted exclusively in the EU, so Emailit scores best on data residency.

Emailit is closed source and hosted by the vendor. The encryption keys and the runtime sit with the vendor and switching requires data migration. Ask about bring-your-own-key, export options and open standards.

What this means for your organisation depends on your whole stack and context. The free assessment weighs Emailit together with your other vendors and gives a total score, a heatmap and the main risk drivers.
