ESUP-SGC: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

ESUP-SGC is a free system for managing NFC cards (tags), such as cards for students and staff of educational institutions. It connects to the institution's own information system and uses the EsupNfcTag project as its card-encoding service. ESUP-SGC is server software that an institution installs and operates itself. The source code is on GitHub under the Apache License 2.0, and the documentation is in the ESUP-Portail wiki.

ESUP-SGC is developed by the Université de Rouen Normandie within ESUP-Portail, a community of French higher-education institutions. According to its statutes, the Consortium ESUP-Portail is a French association under the law of 1901. The wiki lists 3.5.2 as the stable version and was last updated in September 2026. Because the institution hosts the system itself, card and personal data stay within its own infrastructure; as far as the documentation shows, the developers offer no central cloud service for ESUP-SGC.
