Evolveum midPoint: sovereignty score and 8 European alternatives

midPoint, developed by Evolveum, is an open-source identity governance and administration (IGA) platform. It handles synchronisation and provisioning of accounts across systems, access requests and self-service, access certification, auditing and reporting, role mining and identity analytics, smart correlation of identities, simulations that preview the effect of changes, and tracking of third-party software licences. Organisations use it to manage joiner, mover and leaver processes and to support compliance work such as ISO 27001, NIS2 and GDPR. It can be run in the cloud, on-premises or in a hybrid setup, and Evolveum sells consulting, support subscriptions and training.

Evolveum s.r.o. is a Slovak company, headquartered in Lozorno, Slovakia, and has been active since 2011. The midPoint source code is published under the European Union Public Licence (EUPL-1.2), with no licence fees, so organisations can self-host it and keep data and keys under their own control. No non-European parent company is named. Where a European organisation chooses the hosting, jurisdiction depends on its own infrastructure and any partner it selects.
