Filently is an AI service that automatically recognises, renames and files the documents in your cloud drive. New files arrive by upload, an inbox folder or forwarded email; the service identifies document type, date and sender in more than twenty languages and applies your naming conventions and folder structure. It can also clean up an existing, messy drive or propose a new folder structure. According to the vendor, Filently works with Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox and a local drive. It is aimed at freelancers, small businesses, accountants and associations and is delivered as a cloud service.
Filently GmbH is based in Frauenfeld, Switzerland; no parent company is named. According to its subprocessor list, document content (text recognition and AI classification) is processed only in Switzerland and the EU, partly through Microsoft services in those regions. Only the Google sign-in processes data in the US, without document content. The final storage location is chosen by you through the connected cloud drive. Switzerland is not an EU member but is an EFTA country with an EU adequacy decision.
