GCompris is an educational software suite with a large number of activities for children aged 2 to 10. The activities fall into categories such as computer discovery (keyboard, mouse, touchscreen), reading, arithmetic, science, geography and games, some of them game-oriented. Schools, parents and teachers use it to let children practise. You download GCompris and run it on your own devices; no account or central server is needed to use the activities.
The GCompris project is hosted and developed by the KDE community. The legal entity behind KDE is KDE e.V., a registered non-profit organisation with its registered offices in Berlin, Germany. The software is released under the GNU Affero General Public License; the website is under Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0. Because the program runs locally, pupil data stays on your own devices. The project site provides a privacy policy and was last updated in October 2026.
