Headwind MDM is mobile device management (MDM) software for Android devices. Administrators create configuration profiles, enrol devices by scanning a QR code, group devices under policies, monitor their status, deploy and update apps and give remote support. The vendor targets small and medium businesses, kiosks, rugged devices, barcode scanners and digital signage, and says it can be used in isolated (air-gapped) networks. It is delivered as server software with an Android agent, in a free Community edition and paid Premium and Enterprise editions.
The software is owned by Headwind Computer Systems & Communication Equipment Software Design FZE, a free-zone company in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), so the vendor is based outside the EU. You can download the Community server and the Android launcher and run them on your own servers; the server code is published under the Apache License 2.0, so device data stays on infrastructure you control. Premium and Enterprise are commercial, with confidential source code for Enterprise customers. A cloud version also exists; its hosting location is not stated on the site.
