Huginn is a self-hosted system for building agents that automate tasks on the internet. The project describes itself as a hackable version of IFTTT or Zapier on your own server. Agents read the web, watch for events and act on the user's behalf, for example by scraping websites and sending an email when they change, sending and receiving webhooks, running custom JavaScript, or connecting to services such as Slack, Twilio, RSS, IMAP and MQTT.
Huginn is open source under the MIT licence. It was started in 2013 and has grown through many contributors; no company is named as its owner, so no commercial vendor or parent company is identified. Because you host it yourself, you decide where data is stored and processed, and execution stays within your own infrastructure, for example in a European data centre. Operations, security updates and continuity therefore rest with your own organisation.
