JetBrains AI Assistant is a set of AI features and coding agents inside JetBrains development environments such as IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm and WebStorm. It offers context-aware chat about your code, agents for multi-file tasks, code generation, inline completion and help with refactoring, documentation, unit tests and commit messages. You use it through a JetBrains AI subscription, your own API keys or a connected external agent, as part of the IDE.
JetBrains s.r.o. is based in Prague, Czech Republic, and states in its privacy notice that it acts as processor for personal data in its AI services. Customer data is stored in the EU by default, but prompts and responses are handled by third-party model providers. The sub-processor list names, among others, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Baseten, Tavily and Nebius, with data centres in the EU, the US, the UK and Asia. Which providers apply depends on the version and model. For a European organisation, the current list of AI service providers and the data processing agreement are therefore decisive.
